Who are we

Good Shepherd Lutheran Community, a faith-based community, provides a continuum of services and care which include independent living, assisted living, skilled rehabilitation and long-term care. Located in Blair, Nebraska, Good Shepherd Lutheran Community has that small, home-town feel, yet is only 20 miles away from Omaha, Nebraska, the largest metropolitan city in Nebraska. This location provides resident access to both local physicians and a variety of specialists.

Throughout its history, Good Shepherd has remained true to its mission: to serve the social, physical, and spiritual needs of God’s people, in a manner of love, dignity and respect reflective of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd. This mission is true not only for the individuals we serve, but also for our employees.

History

Good Shepherd Lutheran Community in Blair, Nebraska has provided a caring haven for adults needing skilled nursing and long-term care services in the Washington County area since 1948 (over 70 years). Throughout its history, Good Shepherd has remained true to its mission: to serve the social, physical, and spiritual needs of God’s people, in a manner of love, dignity and respect reflective of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd.

Good Shepherd had a humble beginning in a residential home that could accommodate six to seven individuals in need of nursing care. Today, Good Shepherd can provide care for up to 84 individuals in need of skilled care or long-term care nursing.

Over the years, Good Shepherd added additional services to meet the ever-growing needs of seniors in Washington County to include the following:

  • Assisted Living provides 12 apartments for those in need of minimal assistance. Assisted Living provides a long-term, senior care option that offers personal supportive care such as meals, assistance with personal cares such as bathing and dressing, medication management, 24-hour care and activities.
  • HUD Housing provides 20 (subsidized) housing apartments for individuals age 62 and over.
  • Johansen Manor provides 24 senior, independent living apartments for those 55 and older who are seeking a sense of security and community without the responsibilities of maintenance and upkeep.

  • Hospice care
